WEST CHESTER — Leaders from the Believe & Achieve Foundation recently presented a check for $15,000 to the Brandywine YMCA to fund a new after school program for at-risk youth in the city of Coatesville.

The Brandywine Y plans to initiate a program similar to the Believe & Achieve at the Y Program held at the Oscar Lasko Youth Program Center in West Chester. The program provides a free, safe, supervised, quality after school program for financially disadvantaged youth. The new program will be held at the Gordon building, 351 Kersey Street in downtown Coatesville.

The Believe & Achieve Foundation is dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals, families and communities in low and moderate-income populations of Chester and Montgomery Counties. The Foundation develops, identifies and supports programs that work to fulfill basic needs. These programs work directly to empower families striving to build a safe and nurturing home environment.

Staff from the Brandywine Y will coordinate the program and the Y is looking for additional staff to aid in the running of the program. Interested candidates can apply by visiting the branch at 295 Hurley Road, Coatesville or visiting the website at http://www.ymcabwv.org/careers.
