SPRING CITY — Chester County Commissioners presented a check for $5,000 to Open Hearth, Inc, an organization that helps residents develop ways in which to achieve affordable housing, access transportation, and learn financial skills to achieve and maintain independence.

Led by Executive Director Eric Forsythe, Open Hearth sees hundreds of individuals and families each year.  “Everyone who comes to Open Hearth leaves with a personalized budget, appropriate referrals and a goal plan,” said Forsythe.  “This contribution from the Commissioners will help us to continue to meet the needs of low-income households, single parents, the elderly, and homeless individuals and families.”

In addition to its location in Spring City, Open Hearth added a second location in June within the offices of PA CareerLink-Chester County and United Way of Chester County Financial Stability Center, based at Thomas Jones Way in Exton.  This expansion has resulted in Open Hearth serving a record 107 families and 72 individuals in the past quarter, including nearly 100 new individuals and families.
