Unionville Boys Rugby sent two teams to compete in the Under 19 bracket at the Subaru 7’s Tournament in Delaware this weekend — posting key victories in the Rugby Sevens tournament.
Unlike more traditional rugby — which features 15 to a side — Sevens uses seven players per side and features a much faster pace of play. For the first time, Rugby Sevens will played at the 2016 Olympics — as the sport grows in worldwide popularity.
Embracing this new Sevens movement, the Unionville A-Side went 4-1 to secure the Boy’s U19 Plate Prize (3rd Place). The final win was a hard fought 10-7 victory over Salesianum (Del.) School. Unionville had more than 20 players compete for the two teams. The tournament was a tune up for the upcoming High School Rugby 7’s Championship that will be held at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester on June 3 to 5th.
