A Tredyffrin woman has been charged with kidnapping a seven-week old baby from the King of Prussia Mall, Thursday.
Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Upper Merion Police Chief Thomas Nolan announced the arrest Friday of Cherie Amoore on felony charges of Kidnapping of a Minor, Unlawful Restraint, False Imprisonment, Interference with the Custody of a Child, Concealment of the Whereabouts of a Child and other related charges in the kidnapping of a 7– week-old infant boy from the King of Prussia Mall in Upper Merion Township.
A joint investigation by the Upper Merion Police, Montgomery County Detectives, the FBI and other law enforcement officials revealed that Amoore allegedly approached the baby’s mother, who was shopping with other family members and struck up a conversation. After following them to the food court, Amoore reportedly took the baby while the mother was helping her older son and quickly left the mall. Police arrived on the scene at 5:48 p.m. The baby was found, police said, at Amoore’s residence in Tredyffrin Township at 10:18 p.m.
“It is every parent‘s worst nightmare. We are very grateful that the baby was found quickly and returned safely to his family,” Steele said in a statement issue by his office.
