CASD school board member Fox resigns

Region III rep cites shuffling of committee chairs, leaking of information

CASDCALN – Coatesville Area School Board member Jim Fox announced his resignation on Saturday in a letter addressed to Superintendent Dr. Cathy Taschner.

In the letter, Fox cited the reorganization of school board committee chairpersons and what he deemed the leaking of information as reasons for his resignation.

“I had high hopes and expectations for the new board members, but was unexpectedly surprised at the immediate re-organization of all committee chairpersons recently. This action of the current president appears as a disciplinary response to the previous board & chairpersons, ie., a demotion, to a lesser level of responsibility, in an effort to appease the public,” the letter said. “I cannot, in the best interest of the school district, work effectively with those whom, I believe, continue to leak confidential executive information.”

Fox said that he is confident in the school board members he worked with.

The District will have 30 days to fill the Region III vacancy. Applications can be sent to Board Recording Secretary Karen Jackson (jacksonk@coatesville.k12.pa.us) and are due by Feb. 5.
