PHOENIXVILLE — The Colonial Theatre, the historic non-profit movie palace, announces changes to its board of directors that take effect on Friday, September 1.
At its most recent meeting, the Association for the Colonial Theatre (ACT) named Marian D. Moskowitz as its new president. Marian succeeds Kenneth B. Mumma who steps down on August 31 but will continue to serve on the board.
“After working with Marian for years, I can’t imagine a more qualified, confident and passionate person to lead the Colonial,” said Mumma. “I am excited to work closely with Marian on all future projects. Her leadership skills and community roots are an invaluable benefit to ACT,” added Executive Director Mary Foote. “Ken led the Colonial through a tremendous period of growth that included the opening of our expansion. I’m eager to see where Marian and our dedicated team of board members will lead us.”
A successful businesswoman and real estate developer, Moskowitz has garnered a remarkable list of professional achievements in Chester County, most notably the conversion of an abandoned Phoenixville factory into Franklin Commons, an award-winning mixed-use educational, corporate and recreational facility.
In addition to her professional experience, Marian is also a veteran community leader serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Chester County Economic Development Council, the South Eastern Economic Development Council of PA and the Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind. She serves on the Council of Trustees of West Chester University and the Board of Trustees of Neumann University. Prior to her current board positions, Marian served as a Board member of the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation. She is also the recipient of the Outstanding Citizen of the Yearby the Phoenixville Chamber of Commerce and the Ellen Ann Roberts Achievement Award for Excellence in the Field of Business from the March of Dimes.
