COATESVILLE — City police say they’ve arrested one man and are seeking three others in relation to a New Year’s Day shooting that left a city man seriously wounded.
Police said they were able to arrest Steven “Snoop” Carter with the assistance of West GoshenTownship Police on Saturday evening. Carter was charged criminal attempted homicide and was arraigned and ultimately transported to Chester County Prison when he could not make bail of $750,000.
Police say they’re looking for three other city men, whom they describe as “armed and dangerous:”
Juwan Dior Smith, 19, Trevon Dupree Hogue, 20, and Marquinn Trowery, 18, were all being sought on similar criminal attempted homicide charges, stemming from the New Year’s Day Walnut Street shooting that left Lamont Wilson seriously wounded. Although Wilson, 34, is expected to make a full recovery, he suffered multiple gunshot wounds and needed to be airlifted from Paoli Hospital to Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. Allegedly, the shooting was prompted by a robbery attempt.
Chief of Police Jack Laufer issued a statement applauding the investigative work of his department, as well as thanking other agencies for their help in swiftly identifying the the suspects, including the Chester County Detectives, District Attorney’s Office, Chester County Emergency Response Team, and the West Goshen Police Department.
“This type of violent street crime perpetrated in broad daylight where multiple armed suspects engage in a gunfight is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the citizens of the City of Coatesville or the Police Department,” Laufer said in a statement. “Violence that surrounds the illicit drug trade will be aggressively investigated and those involved will be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law in cooperation with the District Attorney’s Office.”
