Beth Chaim welcomes new rabbi, Sept. 14

MALVERN — The Beth Chaim Reform Congregation of Malvern invites the community to participate in an evening of learning and gourmet chocolate tasting as its explores Jews on the Chocolate Trail to welcome and celebrate the sweet beginning of Rabbi Michelle Pearlman’s spiritual leadership at Beth Chaim, Sunday, Sept. 14, from 6:30–8:30 p.m.

Rabbi Pearlman comes to Beth Chaim with a wide variety of experience that will offer the congregation new opportunities for growth, social action, advanced learning and community involvement for congregants and their families.

Rabbi Deborah Prinz will be the keynote presenter and will weave a delicious chocolate journey while discussing her book On the Chocolate Trail: A Delicious Adventure Connecting Jews, Religions, History, Travel, Rituals and Recipes to the Magic of Cacao.

Rabbi Prinz draws from her world travels on the trail of chocolate to enchant chocoholics everywhere as she unwraps the role of Jews in the trade, retail and manufacture of chocolate since it was first introduced to Europeans. Activate your inner “choco-dar,” your radar for chocolate experiences, on this delectable journey through the Jewish history of chocolate—a real treat! Explore the surprising Jewish connections to chocolate in this gastronomic adventure.

Following Rabbi Prinz’ lecture, participants will enjoy a gourmet chocolate reception and have the opportunity to meet Rabbi Pearlman, while exploring how chocolate connects us with our religious past. Books will be available for purchase and Rabbi Prinz will be signing copies following the event.

This one-of-a-kind adults-only evening reception is open to the public and free of charge.
