The Unionville High School Indoor Color Guard and Drumline were both very active this past weekend.
The Indoor Color Guard competed at the WGI – Winter Guard International, Mid-Atlantic Regional at South Brunswick HS in New Jersey. This was the group’s first ever WGI competition. In the Scholastic A division, it placed in 6th place in prelims, out of 18 groups and made the finals competition later that evening. The unit remained in 6th place and had a score of 72.24 in the finals competition. More information can be found at WGI.org Qualifying for finals in their first national level regional was a huge accomplishment for the color guard.
The Indoor Drumline attended its first competition of the season at Ridley HS on Saturday. The was a MAPS (Mid-Atlantic Percussion Society) competition. There were 17 Drumlines in the Scholastic A division. The unit placed in 2nd place with a score of 76.95 for a strong start to their indoor season. Both groups will be attending the WGI national championships in Dayton Ohio in April.
The school is hosting a MAPS Indoor Drumline competition at Unionville HS on March 10 at 4pm. 23 Drumlines will be competing and the UHS color guard will perform in exhibition at this show.
