COATESVILLE – As most children are spending their summers at the pool or playing at the park, 8-year-old Keira Ollis is looking for her next volunteer project to help beautify Coatesville.
Ollis has been seen lending a helping hand throughout the year at many events around the city. On Make A Difference Day, Ollis helped plant fall mums and painted benches, tables and sidewalk games at Ash Park.
As part of the Coatesville Area School District’s Martin Luther King Day of Service in January, Ollis assisted volunteers with clean up at the Catherine Twomey house for Home of the Sparrow.
Most recently, Ollis can be found planting flowers and weeding gardens and helping remove graffiti, in and around the city.
Coatesville city council members honored 8-year-old Keira Ollis for her volunteer efforts in the city at their meeting Monday night.
“In recognition of the time and effort you put into the beautification of our city flower beds and graffiti removal, the Coateville City Council extends their appreciation to you for helping to make the city of Coatesville a better place to live, work and play,” said Coatesville’s City Council president, Linda Lavender- Norris.
“I like helping the city of Coatesville,” Ollis said. “It gives people hope and it’s the right thing to do.”
