COATESVILLE — A city man was seriously wounded and two others are in custody following what police describe as a day-long escalation of hostilities between the victim and his alleged assailants, with a bloody ending, Saturday on Harmony Street.
James Ruiz, 26, was stabbed multiple times in the face, head and back, police said. Ruiz was taken to Paoli Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.
Police said that Irvin Rodriquez-Valentin and Harold Salcedo were charged with attempted murder and related charges, following what police described as day-long feuding between the parties.
Allegedly, things escalated on Saturday, with Rodriquez-Valentin and Salcedo following Ruiz for a number of blocks, finally catching up to him on the 1100 block of Harmony Street. Police said the two pistol whipped Ruiz before stabbing him nine times. The two allegedly also took Ruiz’ cell phone and wallet before leaving the area.
Rodriquez-Valentin was taken into custody by police at his West Lincoln Highway home and Salcedo turned himself into police on Sunday.
Both men were arraigned and remain in Chester County Prison on $500,000 bail.
