Single Moms from across Chester County with gather April 9 for panel discussions on relationships, finances, legal matters and to share ideas with each other.

WEST CHESTER — The fourth annual Chester County Single Mothers’ Conference will take place on Saturday, April 9 at B. Reed Henderson High School, 400 Montgomery Avenue, West Chester.

The Chester County Community Collaborative, in partnership with the Chester County Women’s Commission, is hosting the event, and invite any and every single mother to attend free of charge.

The day will run from 8 am to 3pm and will include breakfast and lunch, free childcare, panel discussions and clinics on relationships, finances, and legal matters, and – most importantly – a chance to learn from other single mothers and their experiences.  The day will include an award for a single mother nominated by the community and chosen by a committee of her peers, and a resource gallery for attendees to meet area service providers.  The conference’s lead sponsor this year is Benchmark Federal Credit Union.

Conference Co-chair Matrie Johnson of PA Home of the Sparrow said she believes that the unique challenges that single mothers face warrant an event of this kind.

“Many of us have encountered phenomenal single women parenting their children to the best of their abilities with limited support and resources,” Johnson said. “This conference is designed to encourage, educate, and empower single mothers regarding issues that affect their role as sole provider for the family.”

This year’s conference theme is “SuperMom: Fact or Fantasy?” and will conclude with drawings for special door prizes, including a chance to be pampered.  See the conference Facebook page for details and a registration link at www.facebook.com/SingleMothersCC.

Single mothers may also register for free online at www.chescosupermom2016.eventbrite.com, or call 484-876-1582 for more information.
