One occurred Friday in Thornbury, the other in Westtown
Two serious one-vehicle accidents occurred on Thursday, Nov. 22, in southwestern Chester County, the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department reported.
At 7 a.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Fox Meadow Lane in Thornbury Township for a single-vehicle crash, a department news release said. Officers learned that a 2005 Ford Escape first struck a mailbox and trashcan at one home and then traveled three-tenths of a mile down Fox Meadow Lane, where it struck two trees and overturned, the release said. The 20-year-old unrestrained driver, who was not identified by police, was ejected from the vehicle and was found in the roadway unresponsive, the release said.
Good Fellowship Ambulance and Medic 91 transported the driver to Crozer Hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the road was closed for four hours, the release said. The accident remains under investigation, but police believe an illegal controlled substance and speed were factors, the release said. Fame Fire Company, West Chester Fire Police, Good Fellowship Ambulance, and Medic 91 assisted at the scene, the release said.
At 2:35 p.m., officers responded to Rt. 926, just east of South Concord Road in Westtown Township, where they found a 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup overturned after shearing utility pole, the release said. The driver, a 41-year-old male from Oxford whom police did not name, got himself out of the vehicle, the release said. The driver reported that he was traveling westbound on 926 and lost control of his truck, the release said, adding that he was transported to Paoli Hospital with a head injury.
Rt. 926 was closed in both directions until 4:45 p.m., the release said. Westtown-East Goshen police were assisted by the Chester County Sheriff’s Office, Fame Fire Company, West Chester Fire Police, Good Fellowship Ambulance, Medic 91 and PennDOT, the release said.
