The United Way of Chester County’s 5K Color Run is back for a second year — April 26.

CALN — United Way of Chester County is bringing back their popular Color 5k  Run/Walk again this year after selling out in 2014 with a record breaking 900 participants for the largest 5k event in Caln Township history. The 2015 fundraiser is on course to exceed last year’s $25,000 raised for much needed local community programs, already up 40% in sponsorship thanks to the generosity of sponsors, including Presenting Sponsor, Brandywine Hospital.

Participants can expect the event to be even bigger and brighter this year, with more color stations and new, neon colors along the 3.1 mile course. The start of the race will be the celebratory mass group color throw but pumped up with several color blasters that will augment the clouds of color at the start.

A misting tent will also be added this year for participants to dampen their clothes before the race to help the color stick even better!  Every participant will receive a white United Way of Chester County race shirt, a small bag of colored powder, and a fun pair of neon sunglasses with their entry fee.

The event is open to all ages and athletic abilities. The course is flat and the event is untimed (although a clock will be located at the finish line) to keep fun in the forefront. Claudia Hellebush, President and CEO of United Way of Chester County adds, “The Live United in Color 5K embodies our mantra of living united- together- it’s designed for everyone. You don’t have to be a seasoned runner to come out and participate. It’s all about having fun- with a group of friends, your family, your company team- while doing something good for the community.”

Thanks to event host Caln Township, the course is on G.O. Carlson Boulevard in Thorndale.  Free pre event children’s activities will be located in Caln Park starting at noon. The race begins promptly at 2 PM. Registration for the event is online only with special spring savings through April 7th. Registrations made after the 7th are not guaranteed a race t-shirt. Register at www.LiveUnitedinColor5K.com to reserve your spot as the event is selling out quickly.

Proceeds from the race benefit the United Way of Chester County’s Community Investment Fund which supports a network of more than 70 programs and services, to build better lives and stronger communities.  Special thanks to Presenting Sponsor Brandywine Hospital and additional sponsors: Will Anderson State Farm Insurance, CCRES, Sabic, Comcast, DePuy Synthes, Citadel, YMCA Camp Tockwogh, Poretta & Orr, Gateway Medical Associates, Barry Rabin Law Office, Wegmans Food Markets, and ProSigns Downingtown.
