PENNSBURY – Despite a day filled will slush and snow, and many surrounding schools cancelling their activities; Chadds Ford Elementary was abuzz with excitement and a great crowd Friday night who came out to enthusiastically support the 66th annual Art Show and Sale.
Since its founding in 1949 by Betsy Wyeth, the Show has grown to become a time-honored tradition and the school’s largest fundraiser. Today, the Show features more than seventy local artists, family friendly special events, a kids’ cafe, guest speakers, tours and its latest addition, ‘The Salon’ – a small, intimate gallery of more contemporary and mixed medium works.
Friday night’s preview party did not disappoint; upholding the Show’s reputation as a destination event for area art lovers. Hundreds of guests enjoyed sampling complimentary hors d’oeuvres from top area restaurants, live music, all while mingling with friends, artists and District representatives.
Featured artist, Shawn Faust, took center stage with a large collection of his nationally renowned equine, livestock and wildlife portraits. Guests had the opportunity to spend time with Faust and many of the presenting artists who were on hand to provide first hand insight into their works.
The Show’s doors open again today at 10 AM and will wrap-up at 4 PM, general admission is free. For more information on today’s special Show activities and times, please visit: http://cfes.ucfsd.org/artshow/information.html.
