Update: Coatesville police nab ‘extremely dangerous’ gunman

COATESVILLE — A manhunt for an individual they describe as “armed and extremely dangerous” ended Tuesday afternoon after city police said they apprehended a man wanted following a shooting, Jan. 30 at North 8th Avenue and East Diamond Streets.

Police police said they took Jamil Battle into custody Tuesday afternoon in connection with the shooting and robbery of a city man, in the early morning hours of Jan. 30.

Police said the victim — a 24-year-old man who was shot in the leg — said that Battle shot him for refusing to comply with his demands during a robbery.

Battle has been charged with attempted homicide, robbery and related offenses.

Previously, before the arrest, police were warning that Battle was considered armed and extremely dangerous — and noted that Battle made a threat of having a shoot out with with police.

Police said they are also looking for what they described as  “a light skinned black male” who was with Battle during this incident.
