In the United States 14.3 percent or 15.5 million households suffer from food insecurity. Locally, in Chester County, that number is over 70,000 people. The YMCA of the Brandywine Valley and YMCA of the Upper Main Line are hoping to alleviate that problem with a canned food drive.
Drop by an area YMCA anytime between now and October 26 to drop off canned goods. They will be delivered to a local food bank that will directly benefit our community.
The goal is to gather 10,000 cans.
As an extra incentive, anyone who drops off three cans or more will receive a three-day guest pass to the Y. Members who donate three or more cans are welcome to give their pass to other family members or friends.
Participating Ys include: Brandywine YMCA, Coatesville; Jennersville YMCA, West Grove; Kennett Area YMCA, Kennett Square; Lionville Community YMCA, Exton; Oscar Lasko Youth Program Center, West Chester; Upper Main Line YMCA, Berwyn; West Chester Area YMCA, West Chester; and YMCA at Great Valley, Malvern.
