MORGANTOWN — On Friday and Saturday, October 17 and 18, Conestoga Christian School will hold the 41st annual benefit Chicken Barbecue and Country Auction.
Activities begin Friday with chicken barbecue available between 11 am and 7 pm in the school gymnasium. Drive through service is open from 11 am and 1:30 pm at Conestoga Mennonite Church and the Mast Strawberry Shed west of the campus. Have fun shopping at our Craft Sale and Gift Certificate Store while attending our Chicken Barbecue.
Purchase your chicken dinner tickets in advance for $8.75 at the school office by October16 at 6:30 pm. Chicken dinner tickets can also be purchased at the door for $9.25. The dinner includes half a barbecued chicken, applesauce, chips, dinner roll and butter, whoopie pie, and Turkey Hill drink. Chicken-halves are also available for $5.25. Chicken dinner tickets are available at the school office, from any school family, and at the door.
Friends, family, and community are invited to watch an alumni soccer game held Friday night at 7:00 pm under the lights after the BBQ. It’s a great time to catch up with friends at our beautiful soccer field.
Saturday activities include the traditional Country Auction, beginning at 9 am. The Craft Sale and Gift Certificate store will both be open. A breakfast of egg sandwiches, donuts, and coffee will be available beginning at 8 am. Children can enjoy entertainment in the kid’s area with activities, games and a bounce house starting at 10 am. With the purchase of a $6 wristband children are able to play all day in a safe, supervised environment! Our Food Tent will be serving delicious homemade apple dumplings, pork barbecue sandwiches, hamburgers, chicken corn soup, French fries, and ice cream.
This year’s main auction items will include quilts, beef, lamb and pork meat packages, artwork, furniture, travel opportunities, items donated by our patrons, CCS friends and area businesses. At 12:30 the auction will feature the sale of a 2003 Honda Civic EX. Artwork, including four framed prints by Richard Bolinger, a hanging Tiffany lamp, 150 gallons of home heating oil, a one night stay at the Mt. Culmen Guest House and so much more will be sold at our auction.
Each class at CCS has designed a themed basket to be auctioned at 10:45 am. Some of the themes for this year’s baskets are Rainy Day, Pool Fun, Camping, R&R, Picnic for 2, Spa: Pamper Yourself, Philly Sports, World Tour, Coffee, Grilling, and College Bound.
The quilts will be auctioned at 1:30 pm. They are a popular item sold at our auction. Much hard work has gone into these gorgeous quilts, even our elementary students helped tie the knots on one.
