WEST CHESTER — Chester County Commissioners presented a check for $2,500 to Chester County volunteer administrators, board members and participants in the Coatesville Summer Reading Program.

The donation from the County is being used to help cover the cost of the food program, educational materials and rental expenses.

More than 125 children are registered for this year’s Summer Reading Program sponsored by Backing Our Young Sons (BOYS) and Giving Girls Guidance (G3), Inc. a non-profit organization.  The program is located at the Child Guidance Resource Center on Chester Avenue in Coatesville.  Now in its second year, the project grew out of the BOYS and G3 mentoring program.  Also endorsed by the Coatesville Area School District, children from kindergarten through fifth grade attend from Monday to Thursday for writing and reading programs with teachers and volunteers.  Computer programs that support the reading and writing programs are available at the bank of computers donated by area businesses.
