MALVERN — Rep. Duane Milne (R-167) announced on Tuesday that a $1.7 million resurfacing of Route 30 will begin construction on Wednesday in Tredyffrin and Easttown Townships.
The project will resurface four miles of roadway from the intersection of Route 252 to the intersection of Old Eagle School Road.
“Route 30 was devastated by this winter’s storms and frigid temperatures, and therefore is in desperate need of repair as it serves as a main corridor of travel for many commuters in Chester County and the surrounding areas,” Milne said. “The roadway, in its current condition, was clearly a public safety concern for motorists and its repair had become paramount.”
The funding for the project was made available through the state’s new transportation funding bill that was signed into law in December, following Milne’s support in the House of Representatives.
“These critical public safety and infrastructure issues are exactly why I supported the transportation funding bill,” Milne said. “A project like the repaving of Route 30 would not have been possible prior to the passage of the funding law. Just doing patchwork, which often proves unreliable, is not the best way to keep our roadways safe, and it is not a fiscally conservative approach in the long run.”
The project is expected to conclude by late August and motorists are reminded to allow for extra time as the construction could cause some travel delays. Construction will occur Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, and then again from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
