Bass fishing tournaments resume June 17

BassHowdy Benner, along with Chris & Kim Urban, Howard John and Linda Taylor, all of Chester County, will again spearhead TNT – Tuesday Night Tournaments — which kicks off the 2014 season on June 17.

This bass fishing tournament on Marsh Creek Lake is held every Tuesday nights through Aug. 27.

This is an open event with a $30 fee and $10 for a Lunker entry.  The tournament runs from 6 pm – 10 pm.  Requirements are that boats require an electric motor, live-well, lights – and a valid fishing license, of course.  An average of 25 boats participate each week.

The beneficiary last year was St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital – with a check for $1,200 (20% of entry fees) and a card signed by each fisherman.  The other 80% as cash to 1st through 3rd place winners for total weight, and 100% to the winner of the Lunker (largest fish) category each week as funds for that is submitted separately.  Fourth place winners received gift cards from Wawa and/or gift bags from The Protection Bureau.

Last year’s winners of Big Bag of the Summer – Randy & Chris Patton – the highest total weight of fish for the entire tournament.  Lunker of the Summer went to Chris Patton.

On an average Tuesday night, weight was between 80 – 100 lbs.  That’s a lot of fish!

Lunkers averaged 4.5 lbs.

TNT will be back next year.  Details, as they become firm, will be posted on Gordon’s Sports Supply website in the future. —  www.gordonssportssupply.com.  For more information you can email tnttournaments@gmail.com.  Mr. Benner states, “TNT 2014 will be bigger and better.  We will do things a little differently and actually collect food donations at registration, as well. We have a lot of pretty generous men and women out there and I think we’ll be able to collect a truckload and deliver it to the Coatesville Emergency Food Cupboard.”

Local Sponsors so far this year are:  Gordon’s Sports Supply, Susquehanna Fishing Tackle, The Protection Bureau, Hatt’s TrueValue and Tackle Depot.
