Brothers arrested on narcotics charges

PoliceBlotterCOATESVILLE — Two city brothers face narcotics charges — and charges for fleeing from police – after leading police on a foot chase from their home on New Street, Wednesday, city police said.

Police said they were serving a warrant at the home of Jason Moore, 27, and Leslie Moore, 29. At that time, police say they observed the Moore brothers flee from the residence. Jason Moore was taken into custody to the rear of the residence and police said he was found to be in possession of narcotics. Leslie Moore fled into a house several doors down the street after he allegedly kicked in the rear door. Leslie Moore was found hiding in a second floor closet.

Jason Moore was wanted on a bench warrant. He received additional charges for flight to avoid apprehension and being in possession of a controlled substance. Leslie Moore was also wanted on a bench warrant. He received additional charges for burglary and flight to avoid apprehension.

Both brothers were were transported to the Chester County Prison.

Earlier this week, police reported a number of other incidents, including:

• A city man, John Bowman, 23, was taken into custody Tuesday after city police say they saw a suspicious vehicle in the area of the 300 block of East Diamond Street. As police approached the vehicle, they said, the occupants exited and walked behind a building on East Lincoln Highway.

Officers on the scene said they identified the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and observed narcotics in plain view. Police applied for and obtained a search warrant for the vehicle at which time a small amount of marijuana and a small amount of crack cocaine were discovered. Bowman was charged with drug possession.

• A city man was reportedly observed making obscene gestures and charged with disorderly conduct Monday, police said. According to police, Cpl Jonathan Shave was on patrol and observed Vincent Wayne Butcher making obscene gestures in the area of Charles St. and Strode Ave.

Cpl. Shave stopped Butcher, who reported that he was making the gestures because “he is a clown and thought that it would be funny.” Butcher was cited for disorderly conduct.

• Also on Monday,  Officer Sylvester Earle of the Coatesville Police Department was called to the 100 block S 3rd Ave for a domestic disturbance. Contact was made with an unidentified female victim who said that a city man, Jordan Lawson, had been engaged in an argument with her and then threw a rock at her prior to leaving. The victim was not struck. Lawson was charged with Disorderly Conduct.
