Poised for colorful assault of ‘yarn bombs’

Learn how to knit, crochet – and unwind – at Art Partners Studio

IMG_2996Art Partners Studio, Coatesville’s mecca for creativity, is adding a Yarn Club to its summer lineup.

Participants – ages 12 and up – will have an opportunity to learn the basics of knitting and crocheting and assist with some community projects, including making scarves for those in need and creating public art with yarn, known as “yarn bombs.” You can also help to teach others. Come to learn, teach or just create along with the class.

Art Partners is also accepting donations of yarn and needles.  Email info@artpartnersstudio.org or call 610-384-3030 to reserve a space in one or more dates:  Tuesday, July 15, 6 to 8 p.m.; Thursday, July 17, noon to 2 p.m.; Tuesday, Aug. 12, to 8 p.m.; and Thursday, Aug. 14, 12 to 2 p.m.

With so many activities scheduled, volunteers are always needed. Those who are 16 and older and enjoy working with children would be welcome for the following:

Saturday Art Helper – Saturdays from now through June 7, 9:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Select any date(s) to assist lead artist with the three-hour class. 

Art Partners booth at the Strawberry Festival – Saturday, May 31, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the grounds of the Brandywine Hospital. Assist with a fun art project for kids at this outdoor community event; 2- to 3-hour shifts available.

Summer Friday Art Helpers – Six Fridays, June 27 to Aug. 8, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.Assist the lead art teacher with summer camp art activities for kids ages 6 to 16; morning and afternoon shifts available.
