COATESVILLE – The board of directors for Good Works, Inc., a nonprofit committed to improving the living conditions of the county’s low-income families, has announced new leadership.

Robert “Bob” Beggs will assume the position of executive director of Good Works, effective September 1. The founder and current executive director, Jim Ford, is retiring at the end of this year. The mission of Good Works, founded in 1988, is “to extend the love of Jesus Christ to low-income homeowners by making their homes warmer, safer, and drier,” a Good Works news release said.

Beggs has been associated with Good Works for more than 20 years as a volunteer leader in the home repair operations of Good Works. During those years, his passion to serve those in need of the Good Works mission has grown and had a visible effect on the day-to-day operation of the organization. He brings significant experience to his new role as a result of his involvement with another successful nonprofit organization as a board member, board chairman, and acting executive director, and his demonstrated leadership for 30 years with the Boeing Company, the release said.

The Good Works board expresses its deep gratitude to Ford, who has led Good Works from a fledgling, start-up ministry to what it is today: a vibrant, growing organization making a profound impact in Chester County, the release said.
