State police: Charges pending in quarry rescue

Troopers say four teens trespassed, two ended up trapped 

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAState troopers from the Embreeville barracks are investigating a criminal trespassing incident involving four teenage males on Sunday, April 6, that necessitated two rescues, state police said in a news release issued on Tuesday, April 8.

Police and fire rescue personnel were dispatched at 5:47 p.m. to the Cornog Quarry in the 700 block of Marshall Road in Wallace Township, the release said. Upon arrival, Anthony J. Pigeon, 19, of Downingtown, was found trapped on a ledge after falling about 60 feet from the top of the quarry, the release said. Rescue personal also located Niles D.  Selin, 19, of Downingtown, who became trapped on a separate ledge after swimming across the flooded quarry in an attempt to aid Pigeon, the release said.

Michael V. Perrotta, 18, and a 17-year-old who was not identified because of his age, both from Chester Springs, called 9-1-1 and directed rescue personnel to the scene, the release said. An investigation is continuing, and charges will be filed in district court, the release said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the barracks at 610-486-6280.
