Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan and Tredyffrin Police Supt. Anthony Giaimo announced on Wednesday, April 2, the arrest of a 46-year-old Devon resident for sex offenses against a child that occurred more than two decades ago.

Lawrence Harold Carroll faces charges that include involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, endangering the welfare of a child, a news release from the District Attorney’s Office said. He was remanded to Chester County Prison after failing to post $75,000 cash bail to await a preliminary hearing on Friday, April 25, court records said.

“This case showed a persistent pattern of abuse that took place over years,” said Hogan.  “Anyone with additional information about this defendant, including any other victims, is encouraged to come forward.”

According to the criminal complaint, the Tredyffrin Township Police Department received a complaint of child sexual abuse on Jan. 15, from a male who reported that Carroll has sexually assaulted him from December of 1990 through summer of 1995 more than 20 times.  The victim was between the ages of 6 and 11 at the time of the assaults, the complaint said. The assaults allegedly took place in Carroll’s home, near railroad tracks, and near a creek bed by Carroll’s home, the complaint said.

The case will be prosecuted by the Chester County District Attorney’s Office Child Abuse Unit.  Anyone with information regarding these or other incidents involving Carroll is requested to contact Detective James Konieczny of the Tredyffrin Township Police Department at 610-408-3647 or jkonieczny@tredyffrin.org.

“As law enforcement officers, we carefully guard and defend all victims of crime. In such cases that involve our most vulnerable victims, our children, we are particularly vigilant in our policing mission,” said Giaimo. “I commend Detective James Konieczny for his diligence in investigating this 24-year-old child sexual abuse case.”
