YMCA kicks off Annual Campaign

YMCACampaignThe YMCA of the Brandywine Valley, the parent organization of four local YMCA centers and two other facilities, is launching its Annual Campaign this week to ensure that everyone in Chester County has access to vital community programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

“Throughout our community, countless people know the Y. But there is so much more to our Y than one might think,” said Denise L. Day, President and CEO YMCA of the Brandywine Valley. “The Y is more than a gym and a pool. We’re a cause. As a charity, we’re dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being, and giving back and providing support to our neighbors.”

The Y’s Annual Campaign supports financial assistance programs to inspire, protect, and empower ALL kids and families, regardless of ability to pay.

In 2013, the YMCA of the Brandywine Valley provided more than $3 million in financial assistance to aid over 18,600 kids, adults and families in need with camp, childcare, membership or other programs.

Parents know their kids are safe, happy and building essential social and academic skills in the Y’s early learning centers. During afterschool hours, when unsupervised kids may be tempted to engage in risky behaviors, Y kids find a safe haven where they can get homework help, enjoy a nutritious snack and engage in fun, physical activity. In the summer, Y kids leave the video games behind to explore nature and discover new talents at summer camp. And on Saturday nights, when many kids and teens are hanging out at the mall, the Y keeps the lights on until 10:00 pm to make sure Y kids have a safe, fun and active place to spend time together.

Thanks to community support for the Annual Campaign, the Y has the resources to help kids develop the positive values, behaviors and skills they need to become healthy, confident and caring adults.

Contributions to the Annual Campaign are tax-deductible and will be used for programs in your community. Visit www.ymcabwv.org/annualcampaign to make a donation or call the Y’s Mission Advancement Office to learn how you can support the YMCA of the Brandywine Valley, 610-643-9622, ext. 2122.
