Gala to support therapeutic horse power

Nonprofit provides equestrian therapy to cancer patients

col3aHorse Power for Life, a nonprofit specializing in therapeutic horsemanship programs for cancer patients, will partner with the Exton Vet Clinic and Stanek Veterinary House Calls for the Seventh Annual Pink Horse Shoe Gala on Saturday, April 12.

All proceeds from the fund-raiser will benefit the therapeutic horsemanship programs that have helped over 100 individuals focus on their mind, heart, and body rather than their disease,  a Horse Power for Life news release said.

As the nonprofit gears up for its major fund-raiser, it has announced that Amy Dluhy, a philanthropist and independent stylist for Stella and Dot, will serve on its board of directors.  “Having seen first-hand the significant impact that the Horse Power for Life program can have on a family, I am delighted to be a part of the team knowing that the work that the more grow the larger the number of local families we can serve,” said Dluhy.

Shiree Radie, president and co-founder of Horse Power for Life,  said she was delighted that Dluhy agreed to serve on the board. Dluhy, who donated one of the program’s previous star ponies, “Sundance,” has been actively involved with Horse Power for Life, for the past three years.

“Having been involved with local charities for the past 25 years, Amy brings invaluable experience that we are ecstatic to add to our board of directors,” said Radie, president and co-founder of Horse Power for Life.  “She has joined us just at the right time as we are gearing up for our Seventh Annual Pink Horse Shoe Gala event in April.”

The gala will be held on Saturday, April 12, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Radisson at the Valley Forge Casino, 1160 First Avenue, King of Prussia. Tickets, which cost $120, include cocktails, food, music, silent auction and raffle basket. To purchase tickets or obtain more information, visit www.HorsePowerForLife.org. Horse Power For Life, a 501(c)(3) based in Glenmoore, is the first organization of its kind in Pennsylvania, offering horsemanship programs as a therapeutic resource for cancer patients of all ages and their families.  The organization’s 16-week program is designed to improve the physical and emotional quality of life for students as they learn about horses and how to ride in an atmosphere of professionalism, teamwork, and fun.
