DSAD’s Best Buddies Clubs hosts annual Eastern PA Buddy Ball

Students from the Downingtown East and West Best Buddies Clubs gathered at Downingtown High School East to host the annual Eastern Pennsylvania High School Buddy Ball.

The Best Buddies Clubs of Downingtown East and West High Schools recently hosted the annual Eastern Pennsylvania High School Buddy Ball, a special evening dedicated to fostering friendship, joy, and a sense of belonging. Held on March 15 at Downingtown High School East, the event welcomed 400 students from 17 high schools across Eastern Pennsylvania for a night of celebration.

Guests enjoyed a prom-like experience with a garden party theme, featuring a buffet dinner, dancing, a photo booth, and activities designed for all abilities. The Buddy Ball embodied the mission of Best Buddies, an international organization that fosters one-to-one friendships, leadership development, and opportunities for individuals with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
“Best Buddies has helped foster a culture of friendship and belonging in our schools,” said Amy Rowe, Best Buddies Co-Advisor. “Seeing our students come together to celebrate meaningful connections at the Buddy Ball is truly inspiring.”

Through events like the Buddy Ball, Best Buddies continues to make an impact in schools by ensuring that every student feels valued and connected.
The success of the Buddy Ball highlights the commitment of Downingtown Area School District to create an environment where all students can thrive, build lasting friendships, and celebrate belonging in meaningful ways.
