Gillen announces run for county controller

Vince Gillen has officially announced his candidacy for Chester County Controller. He brings decades of government and financial experience to the race for this critical role.

As a dedicated public servant with close to two decades of experience in public service and financial oversight, Gillen has spent his career ensuring accountability, transparency, and fiscal responsibility in government. He currently serves as an Auditor for the Pennsylvania Office of the Auditor General, where he has honed his expertise in financial analysis, auditing standards, and governmental accounting principles.

As a former Plymouth Township Councilmember and Council Chairperson, Gillen exhibited strong leadership and fiscal stewardship by successfully managing a $21 million municipal budget, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources to meet community needs. He played a key role in negotiating fair and sustainable labor agreements that balanced employee interests with fiscal responsibility. He also served as a volunteer with the Harmonville Fire Company, exemplifying his dedication to service and teamwork—values that continue to guide his efforts in Chester County. Currently, Gillen serves as an elected Auditor in Uwchlan Township, where he continues to apply his financial expertise to ensure fiscal accountability and transparency in local government.

In announcing his candidacy, Gillen said:

“As Chester County Controller I will continue my commitment by safeguarding taxpayer dollars, promoting accountability, and working to build trust in our local government. I am ready to put my experience to work for the residents of Chester County.”

Gillen’s roots in Chester County run deep. He lives in the county with his wife and their two daughters, who attend the local public school (See attached photo of Vince and his family). His commitment to the community extends beyond his professional accomplishments. Gillen is a graduate of Albright College with a degree in Business Administration. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Downingtown Community Education Foundation, where he also serves as Fundraising Chair, further reflecting his dedication to strengthening the community he calls home.

Gillen’s campaign will focus on fiscal accountability, operational transparency, and ensuring the efficient use of public funds. His proven track record in government administration, financial oversight, and community engagement uniquely positions him to serve as Chester County Controller.
