University president elected to Philly Pops board

The 13th president of the Lincoln University has been elected to the Encore Series, Inc./the Philly Pops board of directors, the university said in a news release on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

Dr. Robert R. Jennings was unanimously elected as a member at the Jan. 20 meeting. Since his arrival at Lincoln in January 2012,  Jennings has become extremely active in civic and community affairs.  A member of the association board of the Brandywine YMCA board of directors, the Chester County Economic Development Council, the Oxford Main Street Board, and the Chester County Business and Industry Chamber, Jennings also holds membership on several national boards.  He serves as board chairman  of the Black Family Preservation Group, Inc., a member of the board of advisors of University of the People, and the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education, the release said.

Entering its 35th year, the Philly Pops is in its first season under the music direction of Michael Krajewski, following Peter Nero, the founding music director of the POPS.  Presented by Encore Series, Inc., the Philly POPS is a founding resident company of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, and it is an orchestra that boasts a blend of talented musicians from the Philadelphia region, the release said.
