Five Chester County school districts were recognized by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) with prestigious awards for outstanding business office operations and the management of fiscal affairs.

The Association of School Business Officials International provides programs, resources, services and a global network to school business professionals who are passionate about quality education. The association promotes the highest standards of school business management, professional growth and the effective use of educational resources.

Congratulations to Charles Peterson, director of business affairs, Great Valley School District (GVSD); Mark Tracy, chief financial officer, Kennett Consolidated School District (KCSD); Jaclin Krumrine, business administrator, Owen J. Robert School District (OJRSD) and John Scully, director of business affairs, West Chester Area School District (WCASD), for receiving ASBO’s Certificate of Excellence (COE) in Financial Reporting.

When asked how it felt to be a national recipient of ASBO’s Excellence in Financial Reporting, John Scully of WCASD said, “This award recognizes that the West Chester Area School District’s financial operations and reporting is a testament to our business office staff for the fine work they do to uphold the stringent financial integrity and transparency of our school district.”

ASBO also recognized David Maytas, chief financial officer, Downingtown Area School District (DASD) and Jaclin Krumrine of OJRSD, for its Meritorious Budget Award. The Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) is awarded to school districts that are mindful of budget presentation guidelines and have successfully developed an effective and accessible budget document.

The five Chester County school districts that were recognized on behalf of ASBO International were among 11 other districts across the Commonwealth to be awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting and six districts for the Meritorious Budget Award. These awards were based on documents with the fiscal year ending in 2021.
