During Monday evening’s Coatesville City Council meeting, Councilman Edward Simpson and Councilwoman Charrisse Allen presented a check for $10,000 to the City’s Parks & Recreation Commission Chairperson, Ajené Livingston, on behalf of the Coatesville Invitational Vintage Grand Prix Committee and sponsors.
Held each year on the third Saturday in September, the 6th Annual Coatesville Invitational Vintage Grand Prix drew thousands of spectators of all ages to watch dozens of vintage autos and motorcycles wind through the historic streets of Coatesville on a challenging 2.2-mile road course. Family fun included vendors, games, a Kidz zone, Soapbox racing, music, a beer garden and food trucks. coatesvillegrandprix.com
The donation will fund several of the City’s Community Quality of Life Enhancing Initiatives including Sundays in the Park, Shakespeare in the Park, Summer Camp Resource in the Park, and park beautification.
“As we ‘Reimagine Coatesville’ and an equitable quality of life for all residents, our goal is to build, support, and fortify healthy relationships between the community, our parks and public spaces,” says Ajené Livingston. “For the past year, we made all this happen solely through volunteers. With this and other generous pledges of support, we intend to nurture these initiatives and plant more seeds of progress for a healthy and vibrant Coatesville community.”
The City extends appreciation to this year’s generous sponsors, the Coatesville Invitational Vintage Grand Prix Committee, City of Coatesville administration, volunteers and staff, and the Coatesville Parks and Recreation Commission members including Tinera Green and Crystal Arnold.
This year’s Grand Prix lead sponsors included Jeff D’Ambrosio Auto Group, the Coatesville Youth Initiative (made possible by Jennifer and Bob McNeil) and J&J Commercial Electric. Additional top sponsors were Brian Hoskins Ford, Buckley Brion McGuire & Morris LLP, Coatesville Express Carwash, Howell Engineering and Surveying, and JGM USA. Members of the Coatesville Grand Prix Committee and friends will host a holiday toast and check presentation on Tuesday, December 20, at 5:30 p.m. at the newly opened Record Kitchen & Bar located at 206 E. Lincoln Highway.
