Coatesville names new Ass’t. City Manager during reorganization meeting

Charles “Chip” Huston

COATESVILLE — During the Monday, January 4 Coatesville Reorganization meeting, which was held in the midst of the city’s pivotal redevelopment initiatives, Linda Lavender Norris was reelected as City Council President along with Carmen Green, Vice President.

“I feel honored that my colleagues entrusted me to maintain this leadership role, and it’s my pleasure to serve our community,” said Lavender Norris. “I believe continuity in leadership is beneficial, and we must work together with our residents to maintain the momentum we have achieved so far.”

Green thanked Council members for the vote of confidence. “It’s my pleasure and an honor to serve our residents,” she said.

Charles (Chip) Huston was welcomed as the City’s new Assistant City Manager, filling the vacancy after James Logan was appointed to City Manager in August.

“I’m pleased to welcome our newest member of the City’s staff,” said Logan. “Chip has a genuine long standing connection to our region and brings a proven track record of community service and leadership to this role. We have much to accomplish, and I look forward to working with Chip and our dedicated City Council members.”

Huston will work closely with Logan and directly support the public works and codes departments as well as participate in city revitalization and development projects. Formerly Executive Director and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Chester County, Huston also held management positions at Philadelphia Gear, Amazon and QVC. He is a graduate of Widener University and earned an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Saint Joseph’s University. A resident of the Greater Coatesville Region for 40 years, Huston serves on the boards of the Coatesville 2nd Century Alliance, Good Neighbors Home Repair, and the Huston Foundation.

“I’m looking forward to working with our city leadership, businesses and residents to help Coatesville emerge as a top city,” says Huston. “It feels like a natural extension to move from developing housing with Habitat to now having the opportunity to be involved with projects that will revitalize an entire city. I believe in the City of Coatesville, its businesses and residents, and I am dedicated to helping push us across the goal line to reach our full potential.”
