Caln Police seek info on possible attempted abduction

The Caln Township Police Department is investigating the report of an attempted abduction that allegedly occurred in the parking lot of the Reeceville Road Wawa Convenience Store on Wednesday at approximately 12:30PM.

The female victim reported that she was seated in her vehicle when she was approached by two black males. A verbal exchange occurred between one of the males and the female victim, and she believed that it was the male(s) intent to abduct her. There was no physical contact between the males and the victim, and the males departed together in a vehicle, described as an old yellow school bus with tinted windows converted to a construction vehicle.

Police officers located the vehicle at a nearby construction site where the males were performing work. The males were identified and interviewed and the investigation is ongoing. At this point the Caln Township Police Department is treating this incident as an isolated event, with no imminent danger to the public.

Nonetheless, abductions occur for numerous reasons throughout the United States, more often than not, because the abductor has a sexual interest in a female. Regardless of the reason, we encourage women to reduce the threat through an increased awareness of their surroundings.

  • Avoid attention-consuming behaviors such as talking on the phone, social media, and listening

to music via headphones.

  • Avoid routines. If you always take a certain walk at a certain time on a certain route every day,

break it up and find alternate routes and destinations.

Be careful about data you post on social media that reveals your current whereabouts or plans about your future travels that day.

  • If you feel you are being followed, on foot or in a vehicle, go to the nearest well lit, crowded

public place and call the police.

Vehicles, namely vans, parked tightly next to your car in a parking lot or parking garage should give you pause.

This list is not all inclusive. Bottom line If something doesn’t feel right, trust your inner voice and err on the side of caution. Call 911 and alert the police of all suspicious situations.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Caln Township Police Department at 610-383-1821.
