Coatesville to host kindergarten Registration kickoff, Nov. 8

As the leaves change color and the thermometer starts to drop, on Nov.8 families with children headed to kindergarten for the 2019-20 school year are invited to celebrate the season. They’ll learn about the exciting, educational opportunities that await them in Coatesville Area School District elementary schools.

The District is set to host the Kindergarten Registration Kick-off for the 2019-20 school year with a harvest day extravaganza Thursday, Nov. 8 at Reeceville Elementary School, 248 Reeceville Road, Coatesville from 6 to 8:30 p.m. This event is for all families with students headed to kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year who live across the District.

Families will have a great time learning about life in kindergarten during this entertaining, autumn-themed informational session. There will be plenty of seasonal activities for children ages 4-5, including games, raffle prizes, hayrides, face painting and a photo booth.

At the same time, elementary school teachers and administrators will host informational sessions for families focused on the District’s elementary school curriculum including: Everyday Math, the Units of Study program, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), a reading readiness assessment, a presentation by the gardening club and information about elementary school band and orchestra.

Attendance to the event is free, but those interested in participating are encouraged to register at HTTPS://BIT.LY/2PLFOAF.The event will be the first in a series of Kindergarten Registration Kick-off events that will be held during the school year.

“Kindergarten is part of the foundation of a child’s education,” said Dr. Cathy Taschner, superintendent of schools. “Our District prides itself on offering a 21st century learning experience for all students. This event will allow families to experience what life is like in

classrooms across the District every day, while celebrating the fall season. We hope you will join us.”
