Chester County Futures to hold College and Career Day, Aug. 1

Chester County Futures will host its 12th annual College and Career Expo, sponsored by Wawa, at Immaculata University on Wednesday, Aug. 1. Over 200 motivated, economically-disadvantaged high school students from throughout Chester County are invited to spend the day meeting college admissions representatives, engaging with career presenters, and attending interactive workshops. All activities are designed to provide students with the resources and inspiration they need to successfully complete high school and attain post-secondary education.

This year’s theme, Be Fearless, will be woven throughout the event. Activities are designed to engage corporate and collegiate partners, while showing students the superhero potential inside themselves. The students will be encouraged to be fearless to dream and work hard toward a successful future.

Additionally, students will have the opportunity to attend a wide variety of seminars and workshops. Topics include: Financial Literacy, College Admissions, Decision-Making, and Positive Self-Image. Volunteers will work with students throughout the day, including groups from Rockwell Custom, Venerable, and Benchmark Federal Credit Union. Snacks are generously being provided by Wegmans.

The Expo will be sponsored by Wawa. “We are grateful to Wawa for supporting this year’s Expo.  Over fifty college and career exhibitors, as well as numerous workshops presenters will be providing our students with a wonderful and enriching day dedicated to supporting their ambitions,” explained Maria McDonald, Executive Director of Chester County Futures.
