COATESVILLE — United States Seating Company (“USSC”) recently participated in a Day of Caring at the Gordon Early Literacy Center in Coatesville. United States Seating team members volunteered at 25 stations featuring arts, crafts, physical activities and outdoor games for more than 350 children as part of the Gordon Early Literacy Center’s Fall Harvest Event.

Other team members were able to donate time for school maintenance. United States Seating employees spruced up the building by painting, helping construct a Resource Center for parents and children, and hanging students’ artwork on bulletin boards around the school.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Krapf School Bus Company, the United States Seating team traveled to Coatesville in donated transportation. The team also donated toys, learning materials and activities to the Gordon Early Literacy Center.

“United States Seating is thrilled to partner with United Way for a Day of Service for the students of the Gordon Early Literacy Center. This Day of Service allows us to connect with our community. I am very proud of our team and impressed by the dedication that everyone, especially our human resources department showed throughout this wonderful day.  We were able to engage, build skills, make a difference and create a positive environment for the students. We look forward to an ongoing partnership with the United Way of Chester County,” said Joseph Mirabile, President and CEO of USSC Group.

Days of Caring are organized by United Way of Chester County to connect corporate and civic volunteers with meaningful community service projects. These projects help nonprofit organizations to offset their operating costs and direct more funds to program services.

United States Seating’s Day of Caring is part of United Way’s partnership with the Chester County Intermediate Unit Head Start and UNIFY programs as we work together to reach more children with high-quality preschool programming, preparing them for school and lifelong success.

“Children who attend preschool enter kindergarten with better pre-reading skills, richer vocabularies, and stronger basic math skills than those who do not,” says Terry Kenworthy, Vice President of Community Investment at United Way of Chester County. “Thanks to United States Seating, our youngest learners will receive a memorable educational experience they may not have otherwise had access to.”

United States Seating designs and engineers world-class safety and survivability products for commercial and military transportation markets. As a global leader in the seating industry, we continue to develop the most durable and ergonomically designed seats to reduce day-to-day occupant fatigue and stress.

United Way of Chester County fights for the health, education and financial stability of each person in Chester County. Through its Community Impact Fund, more than 58 programs, services and initiatives receive funding to address the most urgent needs in our community. More than 102,000 people were impacted by these programs and services last year – that’s about 1 out of every 5 Chester County residents.
