Baden-Powell Service Association to hold open house, Sept. 14

WEST GROVE — The 64th Brandywine Scouts of the Baden-Powell Service Association (BPSA) will hold their annual Open House on Thursday, Sept. 14, in the West Grove Community Room (117 Rosehill Avenue, West Grove, PA 19390).

The open house will begin at 6:00pm and feature scouting crafts and games for interested youth. Scout leaders will be available to discuss the BPSA program with parents, and will accept new scout registrations or returning scout membership renewals.

The 64th Brandywine serves south Chester County, including Octorara, Avon Grove, and Oxford Area school districts. In the BPSA, there are four program sections: Youth ages 5-7 years are Otters, ages 8-10 years are Timberwolves, Pathfinders are 11-17 years old, and adults can join as Rover Scouts. The 64th Brandywine is recruiting scouts for Otter and Timberwolf sections this year.

Adults interested in becoming scout leaders are also strongly encouraged to attend.

During the year, scouts will participate in outdoor activities like hiking, fishing and camping, as well as service projects in communities nearby. Regular meetings are held in the West Grove Community Room.

The BPSA was formed in the U.S. in 2006 as a co-ed, inclusive, secular and traditional Scouting association. The association continues the principles and practices of Scouting laid down by Robert Baden-Powell in 1907. The BPSA is not affiliated with either the Boy Scouts of America or the Girls Scouts of the USA; the BPSA is a member of the World Federation of Independent Scouts (WFIS).
