COATESVILLE — Two city teens have been arrested and charged as adults in the shooting death of a man, Tuesday.

Edward Pinto, 17, and TaJ’a Richards, 16, were taken into custody by city police, assisted by the Chester County Detectives, Thursday, according to a police press release posted on the City’s Facebook page, late Thursday night.

Both were charged as adults, which is why The Times is publishing their names. Both remain in custody in Chester County Prison.

Both were charged with homicide and related offenses in the shooting of 22 year old Cornell Thompson, who was shot multiple times on the 300 block of Charles Street, before fleeing the scene only to collapse at the intersection of Plum and Concord. Thompson was taken to Brandywine Hospital, where he died of his wounds less than an hour after authorities say the incident took place.

Police said that the two teens were involved in a physical altercation with Thompson and that both pulled out concealed weapons and shot him.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact city police at (610) 384-2300 or Chester County Detectives at (610) 344-6866.
