COATESVILLE — Valerie Fairman, featured an episode in the second season of MTV’s “16 and Pregnant” was discovered unconscious and later died at an area hospital, Thursday, police said.
Fairman, 23, was visiting a friend’s home on 5th Street, and was found in the bathroom unresponsive. She was transported to Brandywine Hospital where she was pronounced dead. While an investigation is ongoing, the incident was termed as “possible overdose.”
Fairman, a native of Oxford, long struggled with drug abuse after being featured on the show, a subject documented on the show, which aired in 2009.
MTV issued a statement Thursday, expressing sadness at Fairman’s death.
“We are saddened by the news of Valerie Fairman’s passing,” the network said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.”
