COATESVILLE – Two city police officers were promoted at Monday’s City Council meeting, in front of their colleagues, family and friends.

Detective Shannon Miller and Officer Paul Antonucci were each promoted to Corporal and were sworn in by District Justice Gregory V. Hines, as they recited the oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States, the laws of the Commonwealth of the state of Pennsylvania and protect all citizens, regardless of age, race, religion, sex or sexual orientation.

Police Chief Jack Laufer thanked the members of City Council for sharing his vision for the police department with regard to personnel changes by adding two new front line shift supervisors.

“These officers have had great experience as patrol officers and we’re excited that they bring that experience to their new positions as frontline shift supervisors.” Laufer said. “When they are working from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. — and we’re all home with our families — they are out here protecting the city, protecting the residents of the city and as a corporal they are responsible for everything on that shift. It’s a huge responsibility and we look to them for great things and great leadership.”
