Kesher Israel Congregation of West Chester will install Rabbi Lawrence Troster on Sunday, September 18 as the 15th Rabbi in the history of the synagogue. He has been the synagogue’s interim Rabbi since June 2015.

Sylvia Veitia, President of the congregation says, “Members of Kesher Israel Congregation are thrilled with the impact Rabbi Troster has made on the community in a short period of time and we are looking forward to a bright future with him as our full term Rabbi.”

We’re excited because he’s such a great teacher and has a real understanding and passion for making current events and Torah relevant, Veitia said. “He’s also an inspirational leader for social action.”

The installation ceremony and celebration will begin at 11:00 am at Kesher Israel Congregation and will include a presentation of a citation from Congressman Ryan Costello and a proclamation from State Senator Andrew Dinniman. The program will also include blessings from leaders of local faith based organizations.

Kesher Israel is a pillar of the West Chester Community. Veitia says, “We are thrilled that our friends from other faiths, including the Islamic Center of Chester County, Church of the Loving Shepard, the Willow Branch Sangha and the Jewish Fellowship of Chester County will be sending representative to celebrate Rabbi Troster.

Prior to joining the clergy of Kesher Israel Congregation, Rabbi Troster was the Rabbinic-Scholar-in-Residence of Greenfaith, the interfaith environmental coalition in New Jersey. Rabbi Troster is also part of the leadership team of ourvoices.net, a worldwide movement of people of all faiths advocating for a strong climate treaty.

Rabbi Troster said he is looking forward to growing with the Kesher Israel community. “My goal for Kesher Israel is to help guide people on their Jewish journeys and to create a vibrant Jewish community here in Chester County.”
