American Water starts $500K water main replacement

AmericanWaterPAPennsylvania American Water announced Monday the start of construction in Caln Township to install new water main to improve service reliability, prevent water outages and fire protection. The project will replace approximately 2,400 feet of aging water main at an estimated cost of nearly $500,000.

Starting this week, crews will install new eight-inch ductile iron pipe along Clothier, Dupont and Essex streets. Construction will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction hours, and motorists are urged to find alternate routes.

The company expects to complete the water main installation, service tie-ins and final paving restoration by mid-spring 2016, weather permitting. During construction, customers might experience temporary water service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure.
