Coatesville student wins Neumann’s criminal justice award

Garrett Treer will graduate with high academic honors

Dr. Alfred Mueller II, Dean of the Division of Arts and Sciences, presented Treer with an academic achievement medal at the university’s academic awards convocation.

ASTON – Coatesville’s Garrett Treer was recently presented with Neumann University’s Sister Helen Prejean Criminal Justice Award. This award is presented to a graduating senior who shows an excellent commitment to the criminal justice system and has provided service to the University and the greater community.

On April 24th, Neumann’s Meagher Theatre hosted the Academic Awards convocation and ceremony, during which, more than 40 students were recognized for excellence in studies. The convocation is a prelude to Neumann’s commencement ceremony scheduled for May 16th. 

Kristen Acosta, professor of Criminal Justice at Neumann says, “Garrett was selected because he has an overall 4.0 GPA and has demonstrated leadership in the classroom, in class discussions as well as in the community…He is vice president of the Criminal Justice Honor Society and completed a minor in the Intelligence Studies program. He was also selected to assist in a political campaign for a local candidate as part of his internship.”

While at Neumann, Treer also presented on numerous topics to stakeholders in the public policy and criminal justice professions, was an inductee to the Alpha Sigma Lamba Honor Society and an active participant in the university’s LEAD (Learning Exchanging Achieving and Discussing) series.
