Fisherville to close in coming weeks, Osborne Bridge later in this year<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

CALN \u2013 The township announced projects to repair Fisherville Road and Osborne road Bridge at Thursday night\u2019s board of commissioners meeting.<\/p>\n

The Fisherville slope repairs are expected to take place within the next two weeks and will see a road closure between North Bailey and Bondsville Road. The Osborne Road Bridge repairs will take place later in the year and will result in a closure for three to five months.<\/p>\n

Also at Thursday night\u2019s meeting, Township Solicitor Kristin Camp announced that Caln has reached a resolution with Dewey Homes and Bank of America regarding the Kings Grant Development.<\/p>\n

Next month, Dewey is set to sell remaining land in the development to Rouse Chamberlain Homes who will finish work on lots and make public improvements. Once the transfer is complete, Rouse Chamberlain will also take over snowplow duties.<\/p>\n

Doug Smith, emergency management coordinator for West Brandywine Township presented information to guide Caln in appointing a new emergency management coordinator of its own after Steve Miller\u2019s recent departure.<\/p>\n

Smith briefed board members on the responsibilities of a coordinator, such as planning, mitigating, responding, and recovering during emergency situations. The township will continue to look for candidates for the position, but the board did appoint commissioners Josh Young and Cynthia Eshleman to serve as liaisons to whoever may be selected.<\/p>\n

Reviewing information for last year, Police Chief Joseph Elias said that crime in the township went up 9% from 2013 to 2014. He said that Title I crimes\u2014more heinous offenses such as homicide, assault, and car theft\u2014have gone down. The overall increase came in Title II crimes\u2014offenses like retail theft and fraud. In particular, he said that fraud has gone \u201cthrough the roof,\u201d pointing to credit card numbers being stolen and crimes that prey upon senior citizens.<\/p>\n

The Greater Downingtown Chapter of Business and Professional Women Club presented a $250 check to the police department for its participation in the DARE program.
