South Broad Street, the Kennett Brewing Company (KBC) expects to combine innovative craft beer, local artists and a healthy dose of whimsy to create the Borough\u2019s newest destination, when it opens its doors.<\/p>\n<p>Scheduled to open in September, KBC will offer house-brewed beers accompanied by a simple seasonal chalkboard menu featuring fresh, local, organic fare and artisans.<\/p>\n<p>Co-owners, Jen Braunstein and Jossy Osborne, are also married to the brewers \u2013 Chris Braunstein and Mark Osborne. \u00a0The local connection is strong as the Braunsteins are also teachers in the Kennett Consolidated School District.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>KBC is the product of both the Braunstein\u2019s \u00a0and Osborne\u2019s more than 13 years of research and experimentation with brewing craft beer.\u00a0 \u201cWe&#8217;re unique because of our brewers and the beer they create,\u201d says Jen Braunstein, \u201cMark is into historic English ales, while Chris is into the newer American styles; when the two off them combine their brewing powers, magic happens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Customers can expect to find interpretations of traditional English Ales, innovative American IPA\u2019s and some darker brews for stout lovers.\u00a0 The brewery currently features four fermentation tanks and seating for 50 with room for future expansion.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_927121\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/KBCmugs-300x270.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-927121\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-927121 \" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px;\" src=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/KBCmugs-300x270.jpg\" alt=\"KBCmugs\" width=\"300\" height=\"270\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-927121\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Kennett Brewing Company&#8217;s &#8220;Mug Club&#8221; will feature hand crafted mugs by local artist and teacher Meghan Bergman.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The KBC family is committed to infusing local talent into their establishment. \u00a0Meghan Bergman, Greenwood Elementary art teacher and rising ceramics potter, (<a href=\"http:\/\/meghanbergman.com\" target=\"_blank\"><b><i>meghanbergman<\/i><\/b><i>.<b>com<\/b><\/i><\/a>) was approached by fellow educator and brewer, Chris Braunstein, for the innovative \u201cKBC Mug Club.\u201d Bergman was commissioned to design hand-made mugs, with the panache of limited quantities available for those supporters who purchased Club memberships.<\/p>\n<p>The Club, created to help raise funds for the start-up of KBC, included a very popular online voting contest for which mugs would be chosen for Club members.\u00a0 These custom mugs now await their owner\u2019s use during visits to the KBC tap room, and also provide a fun dose of understated prestige with every sip.<\/p>\n<p>Another local artist and friend, Derek Brennan, was selected to develop the whimsical Kennett Brewing Company \u201cHop Skull\u201d logo.\u00a0 \u00a0The logo captures both the spirit of merriment and historical mystique the owners hope to instill in the KBC brand.<\/p>\n<p>Adding to the taproom\u2019s whimsy are the KBC Merrymen (and women) who are a select, by invitation only group.\u00a0 The Merrymen will meet monthly to develop discerning palates, historical beer knowledge, provide input on upcoming brews, and, as humorously described on KBC\u2019s website: \u00a0\u201cto eat, drink and be merry&#8230;other specifics left to members only.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>KBC seeks to provide its customers with \u201ca tasting experience like no other,\u201d providing an intimate setting to \u201caffordably enjoy interpretations of the finest beers from around the world,\u201d amidst all the charm of historic and vibrant Kennett Borough.<\/p>\n<p>To get connected and stay up to date on KBC\u2019s grand opening, menu items and latest brews visit: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/KennettBrewingCompany\"><b>www.facebook.com\/KennettBrewingCompany<\/b><\/a><b> \u00a0<\/b>or <a href=\"http:\/\/kennettbrewingcompany.com\" target=\"_blank\"><b>kennettbrewing<\/b><b>company.com<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New brew pub to merge craft beer, local flare and whimsy By Kim Chiomento, Staff Writer, The Times KENNETT SQUARE &#8211; Tucked away on the lower level of 109 S.
