Donation marks opening of new Downingtown-Area SMART store<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

EAST CALN \u2014 Many more victims of domestic abuse in our area will find much-needed assistance thanks to a $20,000 donation presented to Women Against Abuse, one of the area\u2019s leading domestic violence prevention organizations. The organization received the donation today as part of a ceremony to mark the opening of Verizon Wireless\u2019 newest store in the Downingtown area which the company calls a SMART store<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The SMART store aims to make shopping for wireless phones, tablets, accessories and other devices more personal by incorporating interactive lifestyle zones, including the \u201cGet Fit\u201d zone with smart accessories to help improve fitness, and the \u201cAmplify It\u201d zone for music lovers. The new store provides customers a visual playground of devices and accessories to test before making any purchases.<\/p>\n

Local leaders Guy Ciarrocchi, President of the Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry, and Donald P. Ash, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors for East Caln Township, attended the ribbon cutting event and spoke to the benefits they believe it will deliver for customers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Chamber is excited about the Verizon Wireless SMART Store opening in our community and I believe it will provide a valuable resource to our residents,\u201d said Ciarrocchi.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are thrilled to celebrate the opening of a new SMART store today, which will benefit our customers by providing the latest in wireless communications technology and even free Wireless Workshops<\/a> where they can learn how to get the most from their smartphones, tablets and a myriad of innovative wireless devices we now offer to suit their lifestyle,\u201d said Rob Miller, Verizon Wireless Philadelphia Tri-State Region President. \u201cWe\u2019re equally excited to continue our longstanding support of organizations who do the much-needed work of providing support to abuse victims in our community. Women Against Abuse is a premiere organization in this arena and we know they will put the funding to good use.\u201d<\/p>\n

The donation to Women Against Abuse is the result of Verizon Wireless\u2019s \u201cPass Along Hope\u201d campaign<\/a> in April, a partnership with the Philadelphia Eagles that encouraged fans and community members to support victims of domestic violence through phone donations and personal messages of hope on Twitter.
