‘History on Tap’ puts women’s rights champion Ann Preston in spotlight<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Laurie Rofini, director of Chester County Archives and Records Services, will lead a “History on Tap” program on Ann Preston, a 19th-century pioneer, on March 18.<\/p><\/div>\n

A 19th<\/sup>-century pioneer of women\u2019s rights and female medical education will come to life at a West Chester restaurant on Tuesday, March 18, at 6:30 p.m., courtesy of the Chester County Historical Society (CCHS).<\/p>\n

CCHS\u2019s \u201cHistory on Tap\u201d series, which brings history to the casual atmosphere of area bars and restaurants, will present a program on Ann Preston (1813-1872) at<\/p>\n

Doc Magrogan’s Oyster House in West Chester. CCHS staff member and Director of Chester County Archives and Records Services Laurie Rofini will explore Preston\u2019s life as an abolitionist, a fierce advocate for women’s rights and temperance, a published author, and one of the first American women to receive a medical degree.<\/p>\n

The program is free, and food and drink will be available for purchase. \u201cHistory on Tap\u201d is sponsored by\u00a0Susquehanna Bank and WCHE 1520AM, with a portable sound system courtesy of Colleen and Basel Frens, and in partnership with the 1893s (Chester County Historical Society Young Friends\u00a0Association.<\/p>\n
