{"id":4448,"date":"2014-02-22T02:35:41","date_gmt":"2014-02-22T07:35:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/?p=4448"},"modified":"2014-02-22T02:35:41","modified_gmt":"2014-02-22T07:35:41","slug":"county-disaster-loans-possible-for-small-businesses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chescotimes.com\/?p=4448","title":{"rendered":"County: Disaster loans possible for small businesses"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium;\"><em>Companies adversely impacted by February storms urged to apply for aid<\/em><\/span><\/h1>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_0990.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px;\" alt=\"IMG_0990\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_0990-300x264.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"264\" \/><\/a>Small businesses that sustained substantial economic injury from February\u2019s ice and snowstorms, regardless of physical damage, may be eligible for financial assistance from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), county officials said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSmall businesses and agricultural cooperatives that have lost business as a result of the ice and snowstorms between Feb. 4, 2014, and Feb. 15, 2014 may be eligible for the SBA\u2019s Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program,\u201d said Bob Kagel, deputy director for emergency management for the Chester County Department of Emergency Services.<\/p>\n<p>Substantial economic injury is defined as the inability of a business to meet its obligations as they mature, and to pay its ordinary and necessary operating expenses, a county news release said.\u00a0In order to make available these Economic Injury Disaster Loans, Chester County must show that at least five Chester County businesses sustained substantial economic injury from the ice and snowstorms, the release said.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re asking small businesses in Chester County to complete and submit a form by March 7, 2014 to ensure funding will be made available,\u201d said Kagel. \u201cIf we don\u2019t get at least five applications, the SBA will not consider any loans for Chester County. \u201d<\/p>\n<p>An Economic Injury Disaster Loan could help small businesses meet necessary financial obligations that the business would have met had the ice and snowstorms not occurred. The SBA provides Economic Injury Disaster Loans of up to $1.5 million \u2013 depending on the economic injury \u2013 only to those businesses unable to obtain credit elsewhere, the release said.<\/p>\n<p>The interest rate on Economic Injury Disaster Loans cannot exceed four percent per year.
